Here are some Safety Guidelines and Helpful Race Day Tips to keep your race experience as fun as possible!
10 minute staggered starts between Short and Long Courses. Long course start first. Short course start second.
Both race ocean start and beach finish will be at Hilo Bayfront. Buoy turn at each course.
When reaching finish at Hilo Bayfront, the racer wearing the official race timing chip will need to run on the finish line. If you need accommodations, please let Mahina Chillingworth know at mahina@dahui.com.
BLACK UNLIMITED WATER PATROL – will be providing Water Safety for the Race.
Please follow all safety instructions from BLACK UNLIMITED WATER PATROL and the staff. A race brief will be held before the race. Please make sure you are in attendance.
You must be race ready by 9am start. We reserve the right to not wait for late racers for any reason.
If you’re having trouble, please wave to the water safety staff on jetski’s. Water Patrol staff has the right to pull competitors out from the race if deemed unfit to complete race or creating hazardous conditions for other competitors.
Life vests are welcomed but will not be provided.
Racers must be adaptive to swimming.
No keiki under the age of 5 years old in the race UNLESS accompanied on the same craft by a parent/guardian.
To prevent theft, be sure to claim your board, canoe, paddle immediately after your time has been documented.
